ACADEMIC CURRICULUM
Lighthouse School is a Christian school that serves children in grades K through 12. It uses the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum which is recognized by the State of Florida. Our curriculum is highly individualized and self-paced. Each student has his/her own learning area and works at his/her own level. As they work their way through a full scope and sequence of curriculum, they receive one-on-one individualized learning assistance. All students have a core curriculum that includes Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, and Word Building. Additional courses in Spanish, Creative Writing, Music and Literature, to name a few are also available. We also have Tuesday Math classes and on the third Saturdays of each month we have a licensed science teacher come in to work with our students. The course work is designed to prepare the student to read and write proficiently and critically, to articulate clearly, to think correctly and decisively, and to work effectively.
The school year consists of 4 nine-week quarters. School hours are from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm Monday to Friday.
Uniforms are mandatory.
ROLE OF THE PARENTS
We work hand in hand with parents to provide a quality education. Parents must take an active role in the child’s daily academic progress. Parents should schedule conferences with teachers to discuss student’s progress. Parent-teacher meetings are scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month.
FACULTY
With the student faculty ratio 6 to 1, and comfortable teacher loads, our faculty members have time to work with students individually. Teaching is the top priority for our faculty. We have dedicated Christian teachers and monitors who encourage and serve as role models for leadership.
NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY
Lighthouse Preparatory Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally afforded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships, and school-administered programs.
